how do I use recovery CD

My problem is that I don't know a lot about computers and therefore everything has to be simplified for me to understand. What happened is that I forgot my password so I can't access my computer but someone told me that I can use my recovery CD. So that is what I plan on doing. Except how to use that recovery CD is complicated. Instructions say that I must set the Boot menu in the BIOS setup utility to CD-ROM, or use the escape key during boot-up sequence to change the setting. It goes on to say that the BIOS loads the CD-ROM, not the hard disk.

Can anyone put that in simpler terms?

Basically when your computer starts up it will say something like "Hit DEL to enter SETUP" or something. This setup menu is whats called the BIOS. In that menu you need to change the boot order, so the computer tries to boot off of the cd (recovery disk) instead of the hard disk,
