How do you change windows home edition to office?

...We have a family computer and it recently crashed and we had to boot the system and do whats called a 'destructive recovery' on the system meaning we have to load everything onto it from factory basics again. We've loaded windows XP onto the computer, however my father must have chosen the 'home edition' mode for the software to operate in, and we were using the 'office' versian of XP before.

So...how do I change the settings of my computer from home edition to office (XP)?
 
umm...There is no such thing as Windows XP Office Edition. The only editions for XP are Home, Professional, Professional x64, and Media Center.
 
By office I assume you mean professional? The CDs you receive to restore your system are system specific... that is to say, if you have WinXP home, the CDs you receive will be for home. If you have WinXP Pro, the CDs you receive will be for pro. I find it hard to believe that you received CDs for the wrong operating system.

If this is the case, call the manufacturer and explain to them the situation.
 
Well we have XP windows home edition, but before the computer crashed it had somehow been switched to office mode or windows office which must have been part of the same software, unless windows updates gradually changed my computer settings??? I'm annoyed though cause now we seem to be back to really childish and simple layouts - such as the web browser/toolbar itself which is annoying because theres no option to 'add another tab' for instance etc

so, either theres a setting on windows home edition (XP) that changes settings to more of an office mode?...Or, windows gradually updated itself so that it had more up to date features????

any thoughts?
