how do you enable an internal hard drive in a different device via usb?

i have this little 7" dvd tv player. and you can also put a 2.5" hard drive at the back of it which i have done. i connected my 7" player to my computer via usb the computer picks it up but then from there im lost, i wouldve thought it wouldve said something like removable disk so that way i can send data to it but it doesnt show me that? is there any way i can send data to the hard drive or do i have to install xp on it? :confused:
 
Is there a program the came with your little dvd player? I'd check to see if it came with one, or if you can download one from somewhere. What is the name and model of the dvd player?
 
i didnt recieve any cd's with it. it doesnt display any model or brand. on the manual it says, 7-inch pmp & pvr with dvb-t & atv. what can i do to transfer data to the hard drive thru usb but the pc wont reconise it as a removable disk?
