I got a new laptop which has windows 7 installed. on my old laptop which had vista, there was a button at the bottom left, which immediately brought the desktop screen. it closed all internet windows, word excel documents immediately and it brought up the desktop screen. how can i make that button visible ?

In Win 7 there is a transparent button in the bottom right corner. If you hover over it, all of your apps become transparent and you can see your desktop (useful for viewing gadgets on the desktop) this is a feature of Win 7 called "Aero Peek". If you click on that button, it will take you to the desktop and minimize all open windows the same as the button in Vista.
