I cant be certain i think someone has used my computer, maybe deleted an excel and word files. And been looking into different files, how could you know if they have ? click on the start button to see what are most recently accessed progams? Click on file in excel to see which files have recently been opened?

If the user is logging on using the same profile or default profile then yes, you could view recently opened documents.

Why don't you assign a password to the profile to prevent anybody else prying into your files.

What operating system are you using?

well he knows the logon password, to logon to XP initally. It is the same password for everyone. I guess even if i can know what files have been opened, there is no way of knowing who exactly has opened them?

Is it also possible to know what files have been deleted ? I mean if someone deleted the file then went into the garbage box and deleted it from there ?

You can create user accounts and have people sign into their own accounts to prevent them accessing your private files. You can also enable auditing in the security policy to disable features of windows and to enable auditing to monitor file access, logon events etc.

never let anyone use your PC, and if you do, make sure you create a guest account andhave them use that account only, even then they can get in and mess with your files. always set bios passwords as well as windows password.
