How do you know if your video card is getting too hot

There should be, it showed the temps on my 9600XT and i believe my old 9200SE.

What would be bad, normal, and good for the temps on the 9600 PRO? should the temps on the gpu be similar or close to the cpu or case temps?

GPU temps are usually hotter than CPU temps. Right now, my CPU is at 39C, while my GPU is at 51C.
