How do you overclock your Graphic Card?

I have a dual core E6300 1.86ghz 2 gigs of ddr2 ram and a nVidia 8600GTS with a 700W power supply. How do I overclock my Graphics Card?

nTune is likely to do more harm than good, and you wont notice a very big difference with that graphics card anyway. i wouldnt recommend overclocking the card at all. but if you are intent on doing so, the other two that oscar recommended will work, as well as coolbits

From what I've heard its not wize to overclock your gfx card, correct me if I am wrong

Theres the good an bad. Bad being some cheap GFX's done have an temp dioide, meaning you GFX w/ overclocking could be at 60C idle and you don't know it.

The good is that you may notice an bit more FPS. I suggest having an PCI fan blowing at the card...

Nvidia's new drivers don't allow Coolbits anymore, And I'm not sure a new version of Coolbits has been released to work around this.

Towards the overclocking bit, I disagree. Take a 8600gt for example, most can safely overclock close to the level of a 8600gts, raising the performance level of that card from a 7600gt to a 7900gs (their performance counterparts). I suggest anybody wanting to overclock do their research as a neccesity, but not to worry much if they do choose to do it. Simply because it's very hard to do any damage to the card just by raising clock speed. The worst that would happen is the system will restart. Clock speed doesn't raise heat much so prolonged overclocking won't decrease lifespan either, as long as the card is stable.
