Im going to use XP, Vista, and Ubuntu.

XP for games and school, Vista for experimentation and eventually games, and ubuntu for pleasure ;-)

The reason I got that RAM is because it is 5-5-5 latency. The specifications on the motherboard say:

Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets.

I plan on overclocking it as well, and the size of that heat spreader makes it a good choice for me.

Am I right in assuming that I HAVE to get this RAM, or can that MB support an latency RAM?

I think you can ignore that bit. It is a standard clause on P965 chipset in newegg, which is basicly not truth

Just a tip, if your a confident OC-er you might consider the E4300 CPU.
Reports of overclocking it to 3.4ghz are... promising in my opinion

If this comment is _Incredibly_ stupid, just ignore it
