How does this work??

I know im probably behind the times, but I was only recently introduced to the glory of watching television 'On Demand' from the networks websites. The videos load incredibly fast and the quality/sound is always next to none, but I cant wrap my mind around how these videos load so quickly without ever having to stop and think about it, but why in the world when I go to watch a you tube video or any other video for that matter do I have to pause the video until it downloads enough to keep it going without pausing to load?

Can someone explain this BIZARRE phenomenon???

Lol it's called Buffering :D
g25racer was probably right-partly. I guess it's due to your internet speed ( you tube buffering, ) and taken that the quality on the TV show is next to none, it surely loads faster :D Less MB-s to load.

lol, thats the word I was going for but I couldnt remember what it was called.

So the TV shows are smaller downloads? Even the quality is so much better?
 
Didn't you just say the quality and sound are next to none??? Lol! :D It just seems logical that worse quality goes with faster loading, as less bits are needed to complete the loading/buffering.
HDTV online agrees with me :D
