how fast does wireless internet go to

i have 54 mbps and was wondering how high do they go on wireless internet or wired internt. i get dsl through frontier high speed internet and i think we have a 1 MB connection at least i think we do thats what my dad told me. and i have seen them at 108 mbps is that all the faster they go and is 108 mbps faster than 1 mb or is it slower

It means that you can exchange information on your network at upto 108mbps and your internet wont be any faster than it is with a standard wired modem. 108mbps is the rate you can exhange information or files over 2 computers which both share your connection under your network. If you have 1mb internet your download speed when online will still be around 120 kbps or at least mine is and I have 1mb.

ok so even if my dad has a router on his computer that is 54 mbps and my computer and is laptop is connected to it does that mean it is at 108 mbps am i understanding this correctly??:??
 
No, if you have a router which is only 54mbps then the 2 machines can only communicate with each other at upto 54mbps.
 
54Mbps is just your router/newtork spped, your acull internetspeed( the 1mbps) is how fast your internet is, the 54mbps is just how fast its connected to the rwireless router. 108mbps is as fast as a wirelss router will go(as far as i know)
 
yeah, u'll get the same speed as whichever your router or provider is.. but, it can lag if there are interference, which thus, making it seem just a tad bit slower if lets say you were to download a GB of the same file on both computers..
