I currently have a 250GB sata drive, a 500GB sata drive, and a 80GB PATA drive.
Right now i have my o/s, paging files, and virutal memory on the 250GB sata, i use the 500GB drive for storage (movies and games) and the 80GB for music storage.
Anyone know how much slower my system would be if i used the 80GB PATA drive for my O/S and programs, and used BOTH of the SATA drives for storage?
eg.;
os and programs: 80GB PATA
temp files, workspace, paging file, virtual memory: 250SATA
storage: 500GB SATA
that way i could have my program files and operating system on one drive, while using a completely different drive for temporary storage for torrents, my virtual memory, cd/dvd copying temp files, etc. and then use the 500GB drive purely for non-active storage (completed downloads, movies, music)
would this be a good setup? I realize initial boot times and program start times will take a hit in speed, but for everything else, like actually WORKING in programs should speed up, and give me the benefit of having my temp space on a seperate hard drive than system/program files, as well as minimizing fragmentation on my system disc.
What do you guys think?
