How hard is it to trade out Processors?

I wouldn't call it hard at all, but it could be one of the costliest if you screw it up. Just make sure you read up on how to apply thermal compound to your processor, and take your time when doing it.

I'm not sure If I am going to build a new system or just upgrade what I have. I may keep the 6400 and build a new system for my son. I am really tore up about the new 2900 specs.. I guess I'll have to buy a 8800 gtx. Hopefully the price will drop.

the 6400 will overclock very well and could easily overpower the 6700. if you really want the power, i would just buy some arctic silver 5 and an aftermarket heatsink and overclock your current processor instead of buying the 6700. if you don't feel comfortable with that option, i really don't think the upgrade is worth the price jump.

to swap out the processor isnt difficult but when you first boot up the you might get a error message telling you that the cpu has changed then you will have to go into bios and reset it.

From what I have read, the 8800 gtx with Flight Sim X will easily bottleneck an e6400, even if OC'ed. But saying a 6400 will easily overpower a 6700 is akin to saying a 6'6" guy can easily outjump a 7'6" guy. While that may be true as far as vertical, I think the 7'6" guy can reach higher! It's easier to be 7'6" than to jump 7'6". lol
