How high is too high?

Im tryinhg to overclock my system even higher, but I was curious as to the highest I should be going temp-wise. I have my CPU at 4.8 ghz now, and at idle, I stand at about 42 degrees c, and after prime95-ing for 4 hours the highest it went to was 67 degrees c. Is this ok or should I tone it down? Specs are in sig.

As long as you're stable and below 75 degrees you should be good.

You'll want to run prime95 for a lot longer than 4 hours though.

I can max out at 5.007Ghz stable with prime 95 after 24 hours, and can hit 5.12, but its not stable after several hours.

My system is similar to yours and at 5.007 I believe my temp maxed at 71.

However, this was all for benching and fun--I regularly run my system at 4.4Ghz which is a great overclock and no issues what-so-ever for daily use.

Have fun but just use baby steps while you test things!

after linkin's suggestion, i found intel burn test to produce a lot more heat if you want to see the absolute max it will hit.
