How hot is too hot

I am running 9800gtx in sli and under load the temps rise to about 60c just wondering how hot it can get before there is cause for concern. The motherboard I am using I dont think was designed for 2 9800gtx cause they are so close together
 
Depending on the chip, the cards are safe until they hit around 80C. I'm sure they can get a lot hotter than that but it's good to try and keep that your temp ceiling. Mine never peaks 70 so I don't worry about it.

my 8800 is 52-62 idle depending on outside temps

and under load its 62-72 max

above 75 and i start worrying but thats not happened yet as when it gets above 60 the fans start progressively cranking up
 
How hot is too hot? Well, when your screen freezes and when you touch the cover you will burn your hand. lol
 
That's fine, 60C is about average for a video card on idle, if you start gaming though, 80-90C is when it's getting hot. And don't worry about the two cards being completely together, all SLI mobos are the same. Since you have two cards that take two slots, they're gonna be close together. ;)
 
85*C for your card i would say, some people said that the 8800 gtx's and 8800 ultra's were good till about 90*C
