How likely is it that an open box motherboard will come with an I/O Shield?

I guess I am safe to say I should assume that all that comes in the package is the board itself.

Worst case scenario, what would I have to do if it Didn't come with an I/O Shield?

likely, no. you can always buy it from the manufacturer tho, i had to with a nforce 750 from biostar i purchased open boxed.

you would have to find one that is made just for your board if you can find one and sometimes there hard to find or expensive as the board itself, always better to get a board with the I/O shiled.

I think they come with it more often than not, but I wouldn't bet on it. I've order a few open box items from newegg and they actually came with everything. If you want to buy an open box item, just makes sure that you can find an I/O shield at a reasonable price should you so need it.

Fairly likely if you are buying from a well known reputable motherboard company (Asus,Gigabyte,Intel,MSI) you know you are going to get one. Other companies you may find a IO shield in the box somewhere.

If you're buying a new motherboard from any company it should absolutely positively include an I/O shield. But I'm pretty sure he's talking about something classified as "Open Box" on Newegg in which case the manufacturer doesn't matter at all.
