How long will this video card last

I was looking at getting an NVidia GeForce GTX 460 graphics card for a new computer and I was wondering how long this graphics card will stay "up to date"... I just want this computer to be able to thrive for a few years. I like to play games. (looking forward to TES V: Skyrim). Basically, I'm okay with throwing graphics on low settings but I also strongly dislike lag. Will this graphics card be able to keep me happy for a few years after I buy it?

Yes. If games go anything like previous generations of graphics cards, you can expect it to be lasting at least 3 years or so before you can't play any new games on full settings, and probably 5-6 years before it is obsolete
 
hell, my 4850 plays all the news games I have at max settings. Dirt3, BFBC2, Black Ops. I guess it depends on resolution too
