How many applications running are need for a quad to dual core advantage?

This is in reference to Kornowski's thread of which is better..If you have a OC'ed processors(lets say E8400,E8500, and E8600 compared to Q9450,Q9550 and Q9650) to their reasonably maxed Ghz,How many running applications do you need before the Quad cores offer a good performance boost over the Duals.I dont personally run a whole lot at one time if I am gaming but in other people's experiences? Hehe and be sure not to let fanboism overide facts please :D
 
DUDE. Stop spamming the forum. Why don't you post it in Kornowski's thread. Honestly these kinds of threads are annoying as hell.

I am not spamming if you look at my post count to how long I have been a member of this forum you will see that .This is a very important question and the basis for why quads or duals are really needed.


edit* also a real world number like 3, 7,8 applications.I know it depends on the size of the application to but on average?
