How many users online

Are there any programmes that you can add to the website that will tell you how many users are online at any one given time. I know that a lot of php programmes have this facility, I just wondered if any were available to add to a normal website.

Well it depends on your site. Are there members registering and databases to store information and what not and all those good stuff. If not, and users are just looking at a personal site of yours, the next thing I can think of that can help you keep track of that is a counter which counts how many people visit your site.
