How many fans / sizes would be a good idea to keep this cool?

Athlon II X4 635 processor
4GB DDR3 RAM
1TB hard drive
HD 5450 1GB graphics
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

Honestly, unless you're gonna OC that rig, any quality case will do you. I have a Zalman z7 plus and upgraded all my fans to a higher flow rate but same size (120mm) fans. Also, look into a good but inexpensive cpu cooler, that's what you really need to cool. Your GPU (5450) won't run very hot at all. Best sizes over all are 120-140mm fans, but most cases accommodate 120mm sizes.

Just don't buy a case that comes with a single fan or small, (<120mm), fans. I agree with ^^^, cases with 120mm and/or 140 mm fans are the most versatile as you have lots of choices if you want to switch fans to tune airflow or fan noise. Your cooling needs won't be extreme, so something like the Lian Li PC-7FN with a 140mm intake and a 120mm exhaust would be plenty of airflow. If you wanted to accommodate dual GPUs in the future, look at cases with three or more fans. the Antec 300 Illusion is an affordable little case with two intake and two exhaust fans.

Yeah, when it comes to buying a case, don't limit yourself by getting a case that's "just enough". That would suck if you wanna run a bigger GPU or something. My case is pretty big and my ATI 5870 fits, but a 5970 wouldn't or barely would. So always think about the future and save yourself some grief and get more than what you need, but nothing extreme.
