would a 7900GT make compared to my x1300 pro. i know its a lot better card but im wondering if its worth getting (cheaper 2nd hand) until more dx 10 cards are out.
You answerd your own question, its quite abit better, as far as its worth it with more DirectX 10 cards coming out, I would wait unless your getting a really good deal!
I have an X1300 Pro in my Core 2 Duo machine and a 7900GS in my single core AMD computer and I play games on the AMD machine because the X1300's performance. You will gain a lot of performance with the 7900GT, it will be like night and day. If you want to wait on the DX10 cards that's up to you. If you don't want to wait you could always buy a 7900GT and then sell it on eBay when you get a DX10 card.
The X1300 pro is a budget card while the 7900GT is high range. You can join the dots, I just bought a 7900GT, about 3 months ago, its a stop-gap until I get a DX10 early next year when the prices are lower.
this will explain it.. I had a ATI X1650 PRO 512mb Pci-E.. scored a 2,900 in 3DMark06.. Paid $200 for it.. THEN i got smart and bought a Nvidia Geforce 7900GTO 512mb pci-E and got a 6,200 in 3DMark06... Now imagain its a 1300 not a 1650 and it pulls maybe a 2K max in 3dmark06.
a 7900GT will pull a solid 5K.. so its almost 3 times the card.
they are having problems with DX10.. dont hold it it will be a solid year before we see DX10 games working and big.
