how much does water cooling help

ok i was wondering how much does a water cooling system help over a 6 fan system. because in my up coming build i am thinking about water cooling but before i go and spend the money to get a system i want to know what makes it so much better performance wise, seeing as how the noise of fans doesn't bother me.

unless your overclocking, its not.

If you overclock, its a world of difference. Though, cheap "kits" are worse than air.

i do plan on overclocking. i dont have a limit, but the more i spend the longer the build will be. My goal is to stay under $600, not including an OS

If that's $600 on the whole build, I think you'll have a hard time getting a decent WC'ing set up.

If your worried about temps get a after market cooler and get a good case like the Antec 900.

600 bucks for a entire system will barley build a rig let alone with water cooling kit too. Water kits are 200-300 bucks as well. Only time you need water is if you plan to take the parts well beyond the realm of "normal" overclock speeds.

Example of such is Q6600 is 2.4ghz...3.0ghz is a normal overclock while 3.6ghz is a lucky chip but runs really hot....then water cooling junkies have it @ 4.0ghz or so.

The reviews don't say a lot of good things about this cooler.

I would wait for Omega to put his wisdom in on this one...he has more knowledge about water cooling then anyone here I bet.

Save yourself some money and get this;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835154001

It'll be better than the kit you posted.

Just check to see if it will fit...its a monster of a heatsink ^-^ You might also wanna look @ Xigmatek S1283 and the Crossbow Backplate if the TT120 is to large for your case.

thank you for the advice, i will probely buy that because it cheaper. but i have a month or so for do more researching.

Yeah, I wouldn't spend less than $400 on a WC'ing set up. You'd get better rusults with a "more expensive" heatsink, than you would with a "cheaper" WC'ing kit.

The more expensive heatsink still costing less than the WC'ing kit.

how r the manhattan cooling kits? i found 1 on ebay for very cheap, and they go for $150 new.
