i was just wondering how much HDD space can XP an Vista support? or is it still in the BIOS.
like with old computers u could only have as much as your BIOS would let u,an if u wanted more u had to do a BIOS update, is it still like this or is it in the OS?

Far from it! You can easily toss a new 1tb sata drive in on the newer boards as long as the Logical Adress Blocking or LBA mode is enabled mainly for ide drives however. Following SP2 for XP there's no more 137gb barrier seen. Vista is long past the early releases of XP.

but is there a limit until it wont read anymore.
so what the max u can get on a newer destop computer is what 6 SATA HDDs an the biggest HDDs around at the moment ate 1TB so 6TB would be max Physically but will windows read oll of that

If you had 6 1tb drives installed they would most likely be seen in a server type case to start off with. Windows unless configured in sata arrays where file fragments are scattered across a pair of drives would see each one as a separate logical drive and assigned a drive letter.

This would also be seen with one then one partition on any drive. You wouldn't see 6 drives as one with the desktop versions of Windows while servers use the networking types like Winserver 2003, 2005, and now 2008. Those in a sense create virtual drives.
