how much memory can i add to my PC

Hello,

My computer is 4 years old and i want to upgrade it's memory. I downloaded CPU-Z and it told me i currently run 2 (dual) x 512 MB DDR2 266mhz. I opened it up and i have 2 slots unoccupied (4 in total).

How do i know how much memory i can add to it?

We need to know what your motherboard is. What is it? That way we can look it up for you.

The best I found is this guy. He says this is part of his computer.

He says that he has your board, and 4 gigs. So if it is all usable, you can have 3.5 gigs. But you would be better off buying 4 gigs, as RAM works best in pairs.

Someone should verify though, as I don't want to lead you astray.

When I searched it, the only computer that I came up with was the Dell Dimension 5150. Just saying.

You could add 2 one gigabyte sticks in the empty slots. And you could keep the 512mb in there as well. You would only have 3 of the maximum four gigs however. But, this could probably be enough.

And you need to buy RAM like this: RAM. Whatever RAM you gets needs to be: DDR2 SDRAM 240 Pin DIMM. You would need to buy two, because that is only one gigabyte. Someone make sure that is right. What all has to match? Just the ddr1, ddr2, or ddr3, and the DIMM? Or what? But I am almost positive that should work. I just dont want to lead you astray.

EDIT: Oh, and the one that you have asked about looks fine to me.
 
You have 4 memory slots in your computer and right now you have 2 sticks of 512 installed. You would need to get 2 sticks of 1gb memory preferrably the speed that you have installed already. You can only use up to 1gb sticks, 2gb sticks won't work. Pull out a memory stick and read the label on it, is there model number listed?
