How much memory?

Hello, I see people talking about 2gig/4gig of memory, and there is a lot of talking about that. But how about 3gig 667mhz memory. Here's what I am planing to do.

512MB 667Mhz DDR2 (have this in my PC already)
512MB 667Mhz DDR2 (have this in my PC already)
2x1Gig 667Mhz DDR2 (2gig's total for $198 at newegg.com)

So overall I'll have about 3gig of memory, I am planing on upgrading to Vista and I play BattleField2 alot and its a memory hungry game.

If you have four slots to play with, that should be just fine...

I can play BF2 just fine with 2GB of DDR667 but if those 2x512MB sticks would just collect dust otherwise you might as well use them. I'd probably try and sell them on ebay or something; there's not a lot that you need 3GB for.

With just the 2x 1GB sticks, you can have dual-channel memory, which will increase memory performance. I would recommend doing that instead of 3GB the way you're thinking about doing it.

well... you can run the 2x !gb in dual channel, and the 2x 512 in dual channel ( its the same brand, no? =o ) but, 2Gb is really enough atm.. so i would try to sell the other RAM tbh

SO what do u think would be better?
3 gig of Kingston 677 memory or 2 gig of Courshair 800 memory?

2GB of 800, but 2GB of 667 is good too (that's what I have).
