Hello, I would like to find out how much power I need to power up the following setup.

MOTHER BOARD:
ASUS M2N-SLI http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131013
CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor 2000MHz HT 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Dual Core Processor or AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Orleans 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor.
HD: Some SeaGate 160Gig HD
DVD: Just a sony DVD reader/writer
VIDEO: Two BIOSTAR V7602GS21 Geforce 7600GS 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 video cards running SLI.
MEMORY: 1GIG of DDR2
Well thats about it, thanks in advance

So from what it looks like, since I am running SLI, 500 watts is the minimum + it needs to be a good solid Power Sourse unit.

Yea i dont think so. It says my system only reqiures 268W. My computer would pop the fuse on a 280W PSU.

The PSU that TommyCompton linked is good.
You sure that you made you had everything accounted for. And was it a cheap psu. That gives you the minimal requirements, but when your system spikes it will need more power. It just gives you an idea of where to start.

Ok, unless you obviously didn't select everything right. All items use a certain amount of power, it adds it up and gives you the number. So you messed up or the 280 watt psu you messed up was a cheap pos, that couldn't power anything anyway.

that test says i need over 750 watts, i'd be very surprised if i popped a quality 700 watt psu.

i figure niskyspy could add another hd or two and another gig of ram and still do fine with the antec 550.

edit: oops i picked dual processor before reading the bottom, i guess i'm at about 580watts, i guess i'll turn down my overclock untill i get my 700 watt psu.
but like it says amperage on the 12v rail is the most important factor when buying a psu.

i edited my post, the first time i did the test it was my error, was thinking wtf 750 seems a tad high.
