how much RAM for 4k?

Hi there, just wondering if it is necessary to go higher than 16GB of DDR4 RAM to optimally game at 4k? Thanks

Yeah, like @Intel_man said, you need a card better than the 1060 for that.
You don't need to go above 16GB of RAM for 4K because the only component that is gonna be stressed more than at 1080p is gonna be the GPU.
I wouldn't go with 8GB anymore though. Most of the times Battlefield 1 uses around 7GB on my rig and some times goes over 8GB.
16GB is pretty much the sweet spot, 32GB is overkill.

I use 16Gb of DDR3 on a Z97 mobo.. its more than enough..but as per others, its the 1060 that will hold you back. In my case, with the 1080ti, it carries the system and makes up for the older i5 cpu.

Might be wrong but I don't think RAM really scales with resolution. Good luck with 4K on a 1060. 1440p is doable as that's similar performance to my 390 but 4K? Nope.

Thanks. I know that my 1060 won't cut it, I already know that. I was just wondering about the RAM. A guy told me I need more RAM for 4k and I thought he was wrong and now I know he is. As far as I know the 1070 is good enough for 4k though, but if I went 4k I would probably just save up for the 1080.
