Thinking about buying this system and was wondering how much I should pay. Any advice is appreciated.

A few problems I see: The x58 chipset supports triple channel memory so 8gb isn't utilizing that (3gb, 6gb, 12gb, 24gb) so make sure to get a triple channel kit. MSI makes a nice product and I have owned the x58 platinum and they had a COMMON issue with the north bridge heatsink not being fastened properly resulting in a board that is always overheating. I now have (despite whats in sig) an MSI Big Bang-Xpower and its nice. I have a 920 and there's nothing wrong with it at all. However the non-extreme (970 excluded) 9 series i7s are all the same with different clock speeds so it is outdated in that it used to be US $270-280 and now an i7 950 @ 3.06ghz (v. 2.66 ghz) is $285 as per newegg.com. In other words if you are NOT overclocking you get the best bang for your buck with the 950. If you are overclocking you can set your base clock to 153 and you have a 950 now... Well as I said there is no 'price' for a 920 anymore but using the 950 price (since it was the 920 price) and using 6gb of the same ram for the correct functionality of it i wouldn't pay over $1415 again this is fairly rough estimate. I'm guessing you are buying from someone and not building? If so I'd take $100 off for the 920, and say right around $1300 (including the monitor for $200) so $1100 for just the comp.

He's asking $1100 but I was figuring $900 - $1000.

The seller says the 920 is stable at 4GHz on air.

Just so I'm clear, can I use the existing memory and just add 4 GB to utilize triple channel?
