How should I partition my HDD?

Hi, I am building a new computer and was wondering how I should partition my HDD. I have 320 GB WD HDD and plan on installing Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Also, where would I install (i.e. in which partition) Games/MS Office and other files (e.g. MP3s).

Thanks in advance.

The size of your partitions is entirely up to you, however I personally make sure that I keep my c: drive for the OS and drivers. All installs and storage are on different partitions.

The best results are seen when installing games and apps on the primary along with the version of Windows. On a single drive system you can easily split that size into two with a second created for storage and backup of files created by the games/programs used. If the OS is reinstalled the programs have to be reinstalled as well.

Custom installing program folders to other partitions can be seen as wasting space there since you can use that for safe keeping your files whether simply reinstalling Windows or even wiping the primary if that becomes infected with a virus or other type of bug.
