k, here's the deal-io. my university gives students @my-domain accounts through google mail, aka gmail.

however, i can't access it through outlook because it does not have 2-step verification, aka application specific passwords, to use with third party apps.

so, my solution is to create a new email account and forward my university email there and then access it through outlook.

i don't want to forward to my existing account because i want it to be professional-looking.

but now i'm kind of stuck.
i need a free email account that has imap forwarding that does not require anything personal, e.g. gmail asks for a phone number to text a "verification code."
yeah, right!! :D

and yahoo mail doesn't do imap.

any ideas?

You do know you can skip the box that ask for the verification number in google right?

not when you're creating a new account.
it asks me for a phone number when i log into my older accounts; i can skip that.
nowadays they send you a verification code.

if i'm wrong show me, because i'm not seeing where i can skip this.

Maybe i did something screwed up, but at work i have my gmail account going to my outlook. In outlook i have my work's microsoft exchange account along with my gmail personal account all going to outlook. The only thing is when i delete/move any emails, this does not affect my gmail account folder (ie they will still show in my inbox). This is the only EASY way i could figure out to easily read and respond my personal email at work without accessing gmail on the web.

That and i just use my Iphone. Never have to go into Gmail (web based).
