How to add another pc on a PPPOE network

Ok I know there are some really Network savvy people on here and I need some help quick lol. So here is what happened, a few days ago my fiancée brought her mothers computer to me to clean out some of the crap in it and make it run better. So I removed some malware etc..... the thing is I never could get it to connect to my network on any kind of connection, not wired or through her Netgear wireless card.........then while going through some settings I found out that the Network that she has at home is a PPPOE through Verizon. Now I have never touched a PPPOE setup before so I know nothing about it.

Yesterday I brought the PC back to her house and for the life of me I can not get it to connect to the internet, all the other pc's that were hooked up before are working fine, I just can not get this damn thing to connect. She has Verizon DSL if that is any help, also it has to be connected wirelessly and the Netgear WG311T card is already installed. Also do I have to use the netgear conenction software?

What OS are you running on? I suggest downloading the latest drivers. Also make sure you have "obtain IP address automatically" checked in the TCP/IP 4 and 6 settings.

The PC has XP Home on it with Service Pack 3 and all drivers are up to date. The DHCP is set to auto.

Ok so I went out and purchased a different wireless network adapter.........a Belkin USB Wireless Adapter G+Mimo. After installing the unit and FINALLY getting XP to auto configure network settings, which I had to do by running the xp service menu I got the network to recognize it but the damn thing wont stay connected. The network is secured and everytime I connect to it the signal gets lost after about 3 seconds then it tries to reconnect. The funny thing is the signal strength is anywhere from Excellent to Very Good but for the life of me I can't get it to stay online. I even changed the router channels but that does no good. So now I'm at a loss

I have the same USB adapter, try uninstalling and reinstalling the belkin driver and Belkin Utility. Make sure UPnP is enabled in your router settings too

OK, so here is where I'm at now. I just restored the system and installed the Netgear WG311T PCI Wireless Adapter and set windows to auto find networks, it finds my network with no problems, but it can not acquire the address.......any ideas on what I can try now?

note: well i finally got the adapter to connect. I found my IP Address by using ipconfig so I manually entered it, once I did that I got connected to the network with excellent strength, but I can not surf the net and it still will not auto configure the IP address.

Any thoughts? Also the IP address I get when I go to IPCONFIG is 169.xxx.x.x (I cant remember the rest lol) Should it start with 169 for Verizon DSL?

169.x.x.x is usually the address windows applies to an interface when it doesnt receive one from another source. im not familiar with Verizon DSL, but all internal home networks that i have worked with have a 192.168.x.x address. Then again ive never dealt with DSL
