Hey everyone,
I was just wondering what everyone uses to back up their computers. Do you use a second hard drive, or put it on a back up disc? WOuld you reccomend getting a second hdd so I can back up everything on my first hdd? I'm just wondering, in case like one of the hdd's fails...How would you back it up?
THanks,
Derek
P.S. Sorry moderators/administrators; I'm terrible with what section stuff goes in, so if this is in the wrong section, I'm sorry.

it would depend on how much u want to back up, if u have just a little bit then use dvd's or cd's, if u have a crap load then u can run raid1 or just copy stuff over

Use windows' own backup utility it compiles all the selected data into one backup file. I use a second HDD to backup to, its an old 20Gb one. It can keep around 4 backups on there (full system), when i have four on there i delete the eldest one and replace it with a newest one. I backup at the end of every fortnight and run chkdisk and scandisk every week, along with antivirus/spyware.adware scans every week. All results in a nice clean system running well.

I only back up the files that are important to me on cds and DVDs. I do a fresh install once a year. It's a pain, but it's my way.

i use dvds to back (dvd iso/udf)

I do a fresh install once a year

is that a must? or do you just do it generally? any specific reasons? coz i have not reinstalled my windows for like 2years + (nearly 3 years).

I use a combination of DeepFreeze and Ghosts across both a NAS, DVDs and another partition.

Hehe not counting the DeepFreeze (which technically reinstalls my computer everytime i reboot) ... i do a reghost once every day or two and a hard format once a week ... why?
1. Cuz I can
2. Updated drivers can be cleanrly integrated into ghost images
3. I dont trust "uninstall" applications to actually uninstall stuff
