How to change from router to modem?...

I recently changed ISP and swapped my broadband modem for a router. Quite why my new ISP sent me a router when I only have one computer is beyond me.
My general internet connection is fine but when I try to use a P2P client, such as emule, shareaza or winMX, the router causes major problems with internet explorer and the download speed has been reduced to a trickle. I've tried configuring the router including forwarding the necessary ports etc. Anyway I am sick to death of this freaking router and want to reinstall my old modem.

My connection is the same as before; 512K, so I see no reason why I can't use my old modem; speedtouch 330. However, when I connect the modem my PC loses internet connection.

Does anyone know exactly how to reconfigure my PC so that I can use my old modem?

For what it's worth; I disconnected the router/modem and connected my old modem into the USB. A solid green light came on on the modem to show that it can detect the ADSL signal but my computer loses internet connection.

I'm wondering what I have to do to configure my computer to use the modem?

Someone please help because this is driving me nuts!

WOOOOO HOOOOO! I managed to sort it out finally. It's slightly embarressing because all I needed to do was update the driver for the speedtouch modem and 'hey presto'; an icon appears on my desktop that allows me to connect to the internet.
I've been agonising about this for ages!
Thanks for the help guys!
