How to check if PSU works?

I just got my power supply, now I'm wondering how I can check if it works. If I'm not going to go hook it up to another computer to do so, is there any solution?

There's a fan on it... and a single fan on the case so far (if those should run when plugged in?)

Take a paperclip or something wires, stick one end where the green wire is, and the other end in any black wire. That should turn the psu on.

For a low cost at a retai office or entertainment store that carries pc accessories you can quite often find a $10- psu tester made by Antec. Whether a supply will be stable under a system load has to be done when connecting the board, video card, memory and lying the board on a non conductive material for basic testing of voltages there.

i couldnt do the green/black thing because all the wires are silver for whatever reason. I ended up running out the door just in time to make it to a local computer shop and they just tested it for me.
