Hello,

I have recently bought a canon pixma mp780 all-in-one printer, scanner and copier. This is a USB device which I would like to connect to our network of two computers at home. I would like this device to work at each computer so that each computer can independently print and scan, but I don't know how to make this work with a USB-device. I hope anyone can help me.

Thx in advance.

you have to share the printer. go to the computer in which the printer is connected, open up printers and faxes, right click on the printer and click on sharing. follow the prompts from there.

in order to get it working, also ensure that the two computers share the same workgroup unless you have a domain controller.

Thx for your reaction but that is not what I meant. I would like each computer to indenpendently work with the device. This means that computer A can print of scan, while computer B is shut down. And also that computer B can print of scan while computer A is shut down.

Both my computers are connected to a router. Is it possible to connect my usb-device to this router?

That is impossble you can only do that if you have a bluethooh printer and to bluetooth dongles
be careful when you say things like that age123, just because you havent heard of the device required doesn't mean it doesnt exists.
Quite the contrary there are a lot of routers out there that will allow you to plug a usb device into the router and therefore print from any machine independently in the fashion that you described.
It will mean you have to buy a new router however.
