How to Copy Protect a CD

I have a Truck Accessories Catalog (1950's pictures and text) I want to sell on ebay on a cd (53 pages) How do I keep the buyers from copying the cd and giving to all their friends or selling copies of mine on ebay for less? I am not a computer guru but somewhat literate. I found some free protection software on the net but I don't understand it and they are for game designers?

Not meaning to dissuade you, but any available copy protection can be broken. I'm not going to go into details because of forum rules.. You'll just have to trust me.

oh i trust you cuz ive ripped DVDs to my computer before fine and im sure all DVDs are copy protected

but still to the average user it will be protected

Stop, think, and research

First off, are you new to EBAY? And second, have you done your research on whether this item it likely or not to sell? If it doesn't you still have to pay for listing and other options. Think, will people really want this? EBAY may make you think "someone will want to buy this and I always make money" but that is so totally wrong. I tried to sell a few things and they didn't sell. I have been very successful and make a lot and fast too, but if your not new and are a veteran then forget what I've said, its all review to you then.

I have sold several "printed versions" but too much resolution is lost in printing. the pages can be read easier from the screen. No I am not new to Ebay the Catalog seems to sell nicely on ebay. I use a set of cartridges about every 2 1/2 catalogs, at $68 (for ink) it is eating profit and binding adds cost also. Discs are .80 cents. So far no one on this forum has answered my question. please read my post, it says I have checked the web/net (internet).
Average old truck guy probably will not know how to break protection, just like I don't know how to create protection. And so far no one here does either. If they break protection it's not the end of the world. Just thought I would see if there was an easy/cheap way to do it. Where are the Gurus here?

This may be a stupid question, but you didnt really specify...is the book all your own work, i.e. your pictures, your writing etc. Just asking, because if it isnt and your using pieces from other peoples works or whatnot then thats plagarism and that is illegal, along with copyright infringements. just checking to make sure that your trying to sell ur own work not someone elses (even if you did piece together a bunch of stuff from a whole bunch of places). sorry if im going off on something that your not doing, just saying...all you said was that you had a book etc. not that it was your work.

and the cd would be way to simple to crack. but it does help as a deterent (you know like if something is slightly more difficult you deter some people from trying). so the real question would be whether or not to take the time to find it and put it on the cds. when your selling something and/or in a business...time is money

Who cares if the hack into it and steel the info? At the end of the day you still made a few dollars!!! That's their problem if they do that. Its no like your trying to sell thousands of them! And even so, its no like there going to give a thousand of their friends and say, "here I just hacked into this guys CD to give you a copy so he'll lose money."
