how to delete stuff permanently

i have a problem i want to delete something from my computer permanently but i already put it in the recycling bin, and emptied it. the problem is that on the internet people say that even when you delete files from the recycling bin they are still on youre computer, theyre just not visible.

how can i recover the files out of the recycling bin so that i can delete them more securely, like with the eraser freeware appliction.

Download and run Recuva. The files aren't in the recyle bin anymore if you emptied it. What happens is that when you delete something you just delete the reference to it. The data is still on your drive just waiting to be overwritten.

johnb is correct. Information is simply removed from reference but remains on your disc. To fully understand it, you'd have to understand the different levels your hard drive saves information on.
