I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but is it possible to send a SMS / Text message from my desktop to a mobile phone.
If yes, can somebody tell me in Kindergarten language how to.
If no, then no harm done.
 
Depends what phone you have. I believe you can send text messages from Microsoft Outlook if you have an Android phone and Exchange (I think... my brother managed to do it!) and years ago you could do it with Windows Mobile but for some reason they dropped that functionality with Windows Phone.

Many (most, at this point?) cell phone providers will also have a spot on their website that will let you can send at least a standard text message. At least in the US, that is. I would imaging this would be a global things these days though.
