How to enable 48-bit Logical Block Addressing support

Hi, right now i have a western digital 250gb hard drive and it is only recognized as 137....could some please explain how to enable 48-bit Logical Block Addressing support for windows xp...i find the instructions on the internet to confusing. Thanks
