OK I am using windows xp as stated in earlier thread. I need to uninstall upper and lower filters to check my dvd rom. but when I go to start run regedit it does not show what microsoft says it will. Supposidly it should lead me to a spot that I can uninstall filters. Is there another way to get there also how do I check bios

You boot into the bios usually by pressing either F2 , del, or any other key. It should tell you what key to press to enter setup. All you do is make sure the bios recognizes the drive.

Hey John if I could not find the filters by going start -run-regedit . Is there another way of doing this. I would really like to try the high and low filter uninstall before I system recover. thank you. I figure as a last resort I would revover rom beginning. If the hardware is found then, than I DIDN,T PURCHASE A NEW CD/DVD ROM FOR NOTHING.

Well I,m back.. Had to work out of town and just got back on. What I ended up doing was going to system restore and put my machine back to the point it was when I bought it. After doing this my cd/dvd drive seems to work just fine. Of course now I will have to find a good anti virus when my temp. nortons program runs out. Also I don,t remember how to speed my computer up on start up.
