My friends laptop has some viruses, among them a key logger that keeps stealing his WoW account and changing the password. He is going to start a new account and wants to wipe his laptop clean like its new. We dont got any recovery discs or anything. i have 700mb CD's and a 160gig Ipod i can use as an external hard drive. His laptop runs vista and its a Toshiba. I can download a vista CD and put it on my ipod. or is there another way to go about this? i don't wanna run an antivirus or try to manually get rid of the viruses. i want to start clean load the bare necessities and install a antivirus program after.

Toshiba usually has a recovery partition or cd that you would need to boot to in order to recover the system. If you don't have either you will have to contact toshiba for a replacement cd.

Look in your owners manual on how to recover the operating system or call toshiba for support.

figured out how to access it but all it asks me to do is insert the recovery CD. For my other computer i just re installed XP and used a different computer to get the internet drivers then went from there.

Can you boot to windows? See if there is a program in the start menu to create recovery disks. If not, you will have to contact toshiba for a replacement recovery cd. It will cost roughly $25, I had to order one for a client of mine to reinstall their OS due to being infected and non repairable.
