how to have xp and vista installed on one hardrive

I have the full version of xp disc and the upgrade disc for vista. Is there still away i can install them to where i have the choice at boot to run xp or vista?

yes, do you have two licenses (keys) for xp? you can install xp on one partition using one license and vista upgrade on another partition using a different xp license.

not if you only have one license, the vista upgrade will 'eat up' your xp license.

You can't use an XP license for a vista installation!!!

i meant that he can upgrade to vista from xp, provided he had a valid xp key; but he wouldn't be able to use that same key on another instance of xp. and i suppose i neglected to mention that he would also need a vista upgrade license.

Actually, if i remember correctly it's not difficult to do a clean install using an upgrade disk, without eating an xp license.
