How to help your parents with technology?

I was just wondering what your guys opinions were on teaching technology to your parents. Mainly about pc's and andriods, cause I keep getting asked by my mom and pap to teach them things. I don't know how to do this so what are some of your experiences with this?

When you say pc and Android in relation to parents, depending on their age, and their ability to learn new things, from personal experience I would say you are far better off with macosx and ios.
My dad who is fairly old and who didn't want a computer in the beginning, and in the early days would ask me to type his emails for him cause he can't type is now somewhat of a computer addict.
But when I gave him an old windows machine, for a few years it was nothing but problems, I don't know how he managed to do it, but seriously every few weeks he would download a major virus which would in a lot of cases render the computer unusable. I gave him an old mac mini and what a difference, I have saved myself countless hours and frustration trying to fix his computer, because apart from maybe needing to upgrade his operating system cause the newer versions of Adobe flash wouldn't work, it has had no viruses or problems whatsoever.
So then we go on to smartphones, I gave him my old nexus 5 android phone, despite showing him how to use it, he is old, and at one stage I was told he threatened to smash the phone in my face cause he couldn't answer an incoming call. Gave him a smaller older iPhone 4s and once again no complaints, he can answer and make calls.
I am an android fan, but there are possibly some things that are less intuitive than on ios.
If your parents are younger or pick new things up faster, then pc and Android is probably fine.
