hi i have a compaq labtop and was wondering how i could hook it up to my tv.. to watch divx and whatnot, what cables do i need? i think this would help many poeple!! thanks

Specs? Model? It's quite easy, but it helps to know what we're working with... What's the video chipset? SiS, Nvidia, ATI, Intel?

As for cables, it all depends on your TV. Most laptops have an SVHS output. If your TV has this form of input, you just need that cable. If not, you need an S-VIDEO to RCA converter. You probably would want to invest in a headphone(3.5mm) to RCA converter or cable for audio.

what he said plus if ur tv has monitor input or HDMI input like mine then all u would need is another monitor cable or an HDMI cable.. the HDMI cables are quite expensive.. i bought a 6foot HDMI cable for 65 but the normal price is around 100bux for a good one .. once agian most tv's and laptop's dont have hdmi input output but if u happen to have that i would spend the extra money and do that.. quality and sound is far more better

Dude, I am 95% sure that there is no compaq with DVI let alone HDMI.

Also Svideo is your best bet. and the aformentioned audio cable can be gotton pretty cheaply if you avoid anything branded for the ipod (I got one from "Great Quality" (Cheap brand at Fry's electronics) for 1.99$, the cheapest "iPod Monster Cable" was over 15$). Radio Shack has some decent deals on the RCA from 3.5 mm jack cables.

thanks
