How can you identify the mak and model of a motherboard? I have an older computer that was given to me and I need an instruction manuel to identify the spots for The front USB/Headphone and of course the LEDs and Power buttons. Thanks and please only helpful posts.
I don't know what chip set it is, and everything I found says it's an asus board, but all the manuals I pulled had completely different layouts. I'll get some pics up soon.
look for a rack of unconnected jumper - most probably in the lower right corner of the board. There will be two rows of about 6-7 pins in each row, like this
:::::::
there is often markings on the pcb next to the corresponding pins. For example to pins should be marked as pwr (power).
Mobos that are not identified by the manufacturer, at least have a code.
For example: CUV-NT...you do some googling for that code, and probably you can find it...
Ok, I just had my second daughter, I have been away of a bit, but I was ablr to get the board into some good light and found the pins I needed. Thanx evry1 4 the help.
