how to install drivers on windows xp with internet not working

hi,
i downgraded my netbook from vista business to windows xp pro sp3. but i forgot to get all of the drivers before i did it so now im stuck with some missing drivers on the computer, which is preventing me from accessing the internet (even over cable) im downloaded the drivers on a usb stick and put it in but when i try to update it they dont show up in the folder.
any help will be appreciated :)

Are they inf files or setup.exe files? If they are just inf files then you update manually, if they are exe files then you run the setup and it automatically installs the driver. What make and model of netbook do you have?
