Hi I just bought a new laptop which has IE7 already installed. One of the softwares I ued for my job dose not work with IE7. How do I get rid of IE7 and install IE6 to this new cmputer? Thanks

The best way to remove IE 7 provided the laptop came with XP and not Vista is to first download IE 6 SP1 at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...cb-5e5d-48f5-b02b-20b602228de6&DisplayLang=en

For Vista IE 7 is required. For removing the new version on any XP system you go into the add/remove programs>add/remove Windows components found in the Control Panel. You simply uncheck the IE item found there and click the next button to see Windows totally uninstall it. Once done you double click on the IE 6 installer you just downloaded. This will also remove any previous installation of IE 6 if that was updated to "7". This was also the quick way to remove the first beta version.

I generally create a main directory with sub folders for various things like the full IE install package, DX 9 full, system, video, sound, and board updates as well as some for Windows. When the IE 7 beta became a problem the method there took IE totally off until the final version saw a good upgrade.

IE 7 does keep a lot more crap from getting on your system however. You may want to look to see if there are any updates for IE 7 at the software's support site. That could allow you to keep IE 7 on. That was an extra thought to pass along there.
