have a dell laptop(everything but the HD), and a blank hard drive.....and windows 2000 pro OS cd.

what do i do?

dont know what else to say/info to give, just ask
t/y

The CD will be bootable so all you need to do is have your CD/DVD drive as the first boot device (set this in the bios).

Turn your laptop on, insert the cd and wait.
You'll either be prompted to boot from the CD or it will do it automatically. Then all you need to do is run through the install process.

if this doesnt work, you need to change the primary boot device... to do this:

enter BIOS (F2 at startup or DEL or something similar)
in ADVANCED SETTINGS try and find BOOT DEVICE 1 or similar:
change it to CD ROM/CDRW/DVD/DVDRW
then follow the above post.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD REMEMBER THE DRIVERS AFTER ITS INSTALLED

that worked,

i knew what to do,
just must have been tired,
i swear i was staring right at it and couldnt find the boot option in the setup, lol

ow jjust have to figure out, what did i do with that damn windows key........

thanks
