I'm new to websites, and want to learn to make them. i have some visual basic knowledge and the whole 2005 express edition with the web developer. Is that the program i should use or is there an easier thing to do? any help is appreciated.

I made my first web site in FrontPage 2000. It was pretty lame but it got me an A :D I would recommend Dreamweaver MX if your planning on going Pro.

I made my first website with Notepad. I also have tried Frontpage and did not like it. My preference would be with Dreamweaver. I love Macromedia Flash also. The last time I did any serious web design I used Macromedia Studio MX and simply loved it. At the moment I'm tinkering with Macromedia Studio 8 and it seems to be decent.

Edit:

Thought it should be said that I believe that Macromedia Studio 8 is two versions newer then MX but it's also very expensive. However I'm sure you can aquire it much cheaper if you looked hard enough. I've seen it as high as $999. Same Price MX was when I aquired it a couple years back.

But be patient, it takes some time to learn how to work on Dreamwaver, I gave up on it one time I tried to use it when I first started doing websites, I should give it a try now that I'm more fluent in HTML but I prefer to use Reactor Server with PHPNuke.

Thanks for the link and replys looks like im off to buy dreamweaver!!

first download the trial and see if you like it, dont wana shell out $400 dollars for a program you're not gonna use.

find free website template on google
download some of them
edit them with wysiwyg html editor

done... now you ready to upload it to geocities or whatever free host

I would bet if any of you just spent a few hours a day for a few weeks on a site like www.w3schools.com you would be able to learn HTML. It is not very difficult. Forget the expensive WYSIWYG editors and use notepad or HTML Kit and really create some webpages.
