Hello,
I was wondering what are some basic upgrades that I can do to make this computer faster

-Azza 694bx mobo
-128MB pc133 memory
-900mhz celeron processor

I am sure that I can simplely upgrade the memory but i am wondering what else can I do.....also i see alot of options in the bios that I have no idea what to do....can that make it faster?

what do you use it for, to be honest that processor cant keep up with many aplications today but it would be great for internet browaing, if you plan on playing games im guessing ur not u can upgrade your graphics card. ram would help alot but im running a 7 year old gateway computer with a p3 533 probably close to your celerons speed i had 128mb memory sticking around and i had 2 moe slots so i put a 64 mb and another 128mb now i see lil improvement but not by much. in bios those are settings to your computer, you cant make it go faster unless you built your computer and its not a manufactured computer you can try overclocking which will make a big differnce but i dont know how far youu can get good luck

You can try overclocking if your BIOS supports it, just change the clock speed n jack up the multiplier! A good video card will help if playing GAMES but it wont help speeding just web browsing up.. I would DEFINITELY upgrade the RAM. That would help a bit, as with getting a 10+ GB HDD with 7200RPM + with good seek times and stuff. Or just get the best processor your mobo can stand and plug it in! I have a 166MHz running offa 128MB... EDO. :D

You could try upgrading to a socket 478 board and a P4 or PD processor. All of your other hardware except for the SDRAM would be compatible. It could be done for less than $100 if you're willing to dig around in the back room of a used computer shop.

well, personally, I do not know of any used computer shops by me or have the time to go digging around for the upgrades

this computer's purpose is to run inside of my car and log data from the racing ECU so I can tune it later

what i DO have is an P3 processor but I am not sure if it is better or worse.....is the celeron better or the P3?

Also I am probably going to drop in more memory and stuff......maybe in teh future ill get a P4 or something

900mhz celeron cant really be made faster, that PC will have trouble running the microsoft office suite...

You may want to invest on buying a new CPU Fan. You can get a quality one for about 40$ then you can overclock it depending on the model to about 1.25 Ghz. You might see a difference. You also might need some RAM. 128MB isn't that good.

I got a bunch of pc100/133 sticks (64-128MB) cheap on ebay. Get a 256MB or 128MB Stick... that should spiff it up a bit. Check out SoftFSB too for changing your FSB

Try sticking some Ram in there. My woodworking teacher had Pentuim II's I her class. I donated some of my old ram (How nice Hehe) Which was 256mb, overclocked it from 400mhz to 750mhz, and It ran nicely. She was amazed. Try overclocking and Ram oh and get Pentuim (It is better than Celeron) Invest some money on a new board and Pentuim 4 and overclock it with about 512 to 768mb of Ram and you'll be flying.

What software did nyou use to overclock? Or did you do a BIOS overclock? I dont hve any options to overclock Pentium 1-3 computers.. in the BIOS that is
