How to merge (increase the size) volumes?

I have a 220 gb hhd. When I restored from my Macrium image I made a mistake of only allocating 180 gb to the main volume. Now I have a 40 gb unallocated volume, but it is not adjacent to the main.

I know that if the volumes are adjacent, I would have an option to expand the main volume.

How do I make use of the unallocated space and allocate it to the main volume?

Open disk management, select the disk in question, right click and pick extend. As long as the space is adjacent to the right of the existing partition you should be able to do it with a basic volume.

To do it with non-adjacent partitions, first convert to a dynamic disk.
